294/366: Fall Happenings

Things are bustling around here.

Yesterday, I went into Little Man's class to help with a Fall Leaves craft.  It was great.  We made bookmarks with the laminator.  Yes, I'm very excited about the laminator.  I may need a personal one at home soon.

We are adding real leaves and this quote I found:

Autumn is a second spring,
When every leaf is a flower.
by Albert Camus

Behind Little Man at his new "seat" is a cutting mat filled with bats and sea monster cuffs and claw feet.  The Halloween costumes need to be completed by this coming Wednesday.  A FULL week ahead of Halloween.  That isn't sitting well with this procrastinator.

Tuesday might be a late night...

I'm also getting ready for a big show I am doing the first weekend of December, more of that to come soon.

The leaves are falling, the sunlight is sparse, and the smell of pumpkin pie is in the air!

Fall is Falling

I have recently begun working at my couch. My office chair is so uncomfortable at times, that I find myself getting up much to often and appearing in the kitchen.

It must be a magnetic draw to that kitchen and FOOD.

Yesterday, with my new birthday gift of a laptop cooling station, moved myself to the couch. Many would think this would create a much less productive day.

To the contrary.

I am so comfortable in this space that I don't want to get up, therefore, working longer and more consistently.

The other wonderful aspect of this situation is that I can watch the leaves begin to change and fall from our tree lined street. This year, the trees looked quite healthy and almost fully regenerated from the destruction of the October Surprise Storm we had several years ago. Trees amaze me. The damage they endured from that storm, only to come back in their beauty a few years after.

I look forward to the colors of the season

And my cold toes

and chilly nose.

This Little Boy

This little boy can drive me crazy with frustration all the while stealing my heart.

He currently meows like a cat, which sounds like a 3 year old whining. He likes to play on the computer, but when I tell him time is up, he groans like an old man getting up from his recliner. He loves to dance while I make dinner in the kitchen, making dinner take a bit longer than it should. And he talks. He talks constantly, but always seems to have something to say.

Last night, we went for a 'night walk'. That's what happens in the Fall at 6:30 pm.

It was dark and quiet and lovely.

He wore his new hat and gloves (how stinking cute!).

The moon was lighting the clouds like a high beam. The leaves crunching under our feet.

I was thinking about how still everything was and how wonderfully calm and silent he was.

And then he spoke, "Mom, you know why I'm walking next to you?"

"Why?" I asked.

"Because I love you."
