235/366: Sand Can Be Fun

I was cleaning out my inbox and came across this photo from last month, pre-buzz cuts.

These boys rolled around in the sand after they got out of the water.

Laughing, rolling, packing the sand on their bodies.

Then, they got mad because the sand was in their shoes. Mad at me, mad at life.

Wouldn't that be the shiz? Biggest worry is a bit of sand in your shoe?

Ah, relativity.

227/366: Beach Break

Tom had three days off in a row, so we (I) ran around making food, buying supplies and doing laundry for a quick two night camping trip.  We headed off to Hamlin Beach State Park on Lake Ontario.  It was lovely.  It may become our 'go-to' campground when we only have a little time.  We can get there in an hour and 20 minutes and get home all on one tank of gas.

The beach was very clean (I'm comparing to Beaver Island State Park, so perhaps not a fair comparison), had some big rocks for climbing and lots of rocks to find.

We didn't swim this trip, but there will definitely be a next time!

38/366: Seashore

Some days, all I would really like to do is sit on a swing like this and let the ocean breeze blow through my perfectly curled hair (it's a dream, remember?).

Today is one of those days.

This wouldn't be bad, either...

Road Trip Recap: In Photos

"Yes, it is okay to jump on the bed.  And the couch.  Go ahead, bounce away, and they did."

Quiet walk on paths at the West Hartford Reservoir

Boys donning their new gifts from Uncle Keith. It's important to stay hydrated.

A "very weird ant with a red butt".
 Then...to the beach!

This was the East Haven Town Beach and just perfect for our short visit.

 Uncle Keith!

Sweet goggles from Uncle Keith.  The boys wore their goggles in the car, the whole way to the beach (over and hour).

One last stop: Herkimer Diamond Mines

We had a great time.

I hope they remember this trip when their teachers ask them:  What did you do this summer?

Eyeless Pictures

A picture tells a greater story when you are missing information. Like a book, a picture without eyes leaves the story to the viewer.

And when you are at the beach, remember your watercolor paints, paper and of course, yarn to make it all happen.

Beach

If you know me, you know I love a picture without a face.
A picture without a face is like reading a book.
The author describes everything about a place or a feeling or a person, yet the reader needs to put it all together.
I find a picture without a face encourages the viewer to investigate and imagine the emotion in the unseen face(s).
This was taken at Beaver Island State Park on the mighty Niagara River. The boys loved the boardwalk more than the sand.
.
But you could probably tell that by their faces.
